My first blog, not quite sure what to say but here goes! So, as 2012 draws to a close it’s surely time to put feet up and relax? Not for me.

This week is heavy preparation again for Saturday’s show (5th Annual Goeswell Charity Christmas Show). That means daily practice sessions with the pole and of course a good dose of yoga to keep me flexible. I’ll be doing my solo to the Muse version of Feeling Good. I’ve been working on it for months and have had a trial run with the routine at a local competition. It’s been a labour of love and occasionally hate but there is something so very freeing and so satisfying about watching something come together. It’s been a huge learning curve for me and I’ve loved it – including the assorted bruises I’ve acquired along the way. In our school we call them pole hickeys. Oh – I’m also being a naughty elf in the show’s opening number although some have said this is type casting!

Of course I have one eye on next year. Being a Platinum Stages sponsored athlete is such a great opportunity. I’m so excited to see what that brings and what I can do to help people to understand appreciate the artistry that is pole dance. Projects on the go at the moment are a duet piece, a new solo and a group routine combining pole with burlesque chair work. First scheduled outing for the duet and group numbers is in March, first competition in April. Oh and not to forget choreographing the set dance for the Beginner’s category at the April show. Now that I’ve discovered a real love for performing waiting until March seems a long time away; so I may just need to find an interim event to keep me going.

So, I write this excited for Saturday’s show and even more excited for what fun and merriment 2013 will bring… can’t wait to see what happens next!
